Karen Sparnon Books and Writing
About Me
I work as a freelance writer and teacher, and have a PhD in Professional Writing and Editing.
Myfirst novel - Madonna of the Eucalypts - was published by Text Publishing in 2006. Madonna was translated and published overseas, and in 2007 won the Grollo Ruzzene Foundation Prize for Writing about Italians in Australia. I have recently completed my second novel, which is again set between Italy and Australia, and am working on my third novel.
I have written anecdotal and travel articles for major Australian newspapers, and assessed fiction and non-fiction manuscripts for an assessment agency.
My great passions are all things to do with reading and writing – especially anything that helps us understand the mystery of creativity. I spend much of my time exploring the past, especially Ancient Greece and Renaissance art. And much love goes out to all things to do with Italy and, of course, my furry canine companion, Ivy.
Services
I conduct regular writing workshops. Check out the workshop page for details.
I also offer a manuscript appraisal service.
